I made sure to tell the dealer I wanted it dead cold prior to me being there & the gauges showed it was dead cold. (Sort of like wondering if you could sell a Rolls Royce with plastic bumpers.) In todays world a brand name is a commodity bought and sold and the 1985, 1995, and 2005 anything with the same brand name may well be related in name only. The two boats i am looking at are the 466MY witch as i said earlier now can be ordered with 575hp volvos over the older 450 Cummins or 480volvos.And the 52 Voyager witch as well can be ordered with the D12 volvos.The 466 has a huge amount of room but looks like a bubble. We've had her out more this year than the past 3 combined and are planning a 2 night overnight at Put In Bay. I boat in the Great lakes area and there is not a lot of choice for makes over 50 ft here abouts. For what it's worth, I've had my Carver for a year and a half and am still absolutely thrilled with it. Thanks for the comment.Any more? In the 70's a fiberglass hull would be 2 inches thick whereas now with new technologies, the fiberglass does flex. Just have to decide witch one. I would think that the boat you are looking at (10K more lbs and 450HP engines) would be more than be sufficient. Other brands come with specific "blocking maps" and if you don't follow them, you'll puncture the hull...I won't say what brand, but, it's not Carver or Cruisers ;-). Carver has some of the better boat space designers in the industry, they manage to get a lot of usable space in a package without a lot of overall length. Apparently, Cummins are bullet proof, but its too early for me to tell as I have only owned the Carver for 2 years, no problems yet. IMO Cummins are no more susceptible to overloading than any other recreational specked engine, and less than some. It does whatever I ask it do without a complaint. This is the Flagship Model so I assume it was their best effort. The 52 in my opinion has much better looking lines but a lot less space than the 46. It's opposite side from salon access, keeps the smoke out. My preference is the one in the picture. Hopefully he is so busy selling, he hasn't had time to jump on the forum!!! All that being said my engines rated at 2800 rpm max i cruise at2300rpm and now have 1700 hr on them and no issues. Many boats at full throttle will not even reach the maximum stated rpm by the engine manufacturer,a sure sign of being overloaded and over propped.Failure just waiting to happen. You would kill it in no time.Again what i have learned over the years,talking to many mechanics in the buisiness for many years is to cruise at 20% of the top rpm for longevity.I am looking for a cruise speed of 25 mph.
